Google • The Digital Workplace
You ask Google, but Google asked me! At this inspirational seminar produced in cooperation with the municipality of Rotterdam I was asked to share some best practices about 'the digital workplace.'
So What's Next? Festival
So What's Next? Good question! It's also the name of a festival in Eindhoven that's at the forefront of jazz.
Ashley Kahn (professor NYU), Simon Rentner (radio host WBGO). Gijsbert Kamer (music critic at De Volkskrant) and I put on our clairvoyant goggles and discussed the ever-increasing importance of gatekeepers in the murky digital landscape.
IABx Rotterdam
The International Advisory Board Rotterdam made their biannual trip to Rotterdam to inform their recommendations to the city.
I was asked to provide the board with new perspectives on the topic of press attention in traditional media — which is coveted but also hard to acquire. I decided to give a presentation about BIRD's content strategy and online magazine, demonstrating that you can have a broad reach without all the PR hassle.
Rotterdam Festivals
Reaching a young and diverse audience is the holy grail for cultural organizations. Rotterdam Festivals invited me to talk at their marketing sessions about how to catch some of these unicorns.
Algemeen Dagblad
Rotterdam is one of the most diverse cities in the world but this isn’t reflected in its cultural programming and subsidies. Nadia Berkelder and I had a chat about this conundrum.
Open Rotterdam
Radio DJ Jurgen Reigman saw the music video we made for MūSiz and was inspired to have a chat about it... and thus it became the first ever video to be premiered on radio... we think... it must be.

Radio Rijnmond
North Sea Jazz Festival and fringe festival North Sea Round Town were in Rotterdam. Radio Rijnmond invited Hanyo van Oosterom (programmer at jazz venue Dizzy) and me over for an hour to discuss the history, current state and future of jazz in Rotterdam. Major icing on the cake is that we we also got to play some songs (I opted for Christian Scott's 'KKPD' since it was Keti Koti).
Workshops
I'm all for self-sufficiency, so if you're not looking for an outside hire but do want to educate yourself and/or your employers: contact me.
Topics
I've conducted workshops for music labels, venues, creative freelancers and cultural non-profits on topics ranging from social media management, Facebook and Instagram ads to content and email marketing (MailChimp all the way!).
Location
Workshops are held at my office or yours. I've even led sessions in Virasana pose at a yoga studio so I'm pretty flexible (topic and location wise, not physically).
